Hello, and Welcome to Stardust Ridge!
My name is Norma Jackson, and I have a small feline family living the good
life here in the beautiful mountains of Northern California. My kitties
are family members, naturally home raised with my always attentive
little dogs, JJ and Bitsy. Kittens are handled and cuddled from birth
here, taught litter box manners as soon as they begin to crawl, and health
checked by my vet before they leave for new homes. Adult cats have
the run of the house, and sometimes venture out on to the property on
harness and lead.
Like me, you probably have a fascination with the Somali or the Snowcub
breeds of cat because they resemble something from the wild. The Somali
is often called the "little fox" of the cat world because of their beautiful
fox like coloration, bushy tail, and amazing intelligence and agility. The
Snowcub was actually created to resemble a wild Snow Leopard. With
their glistening spotted coats, huge size, large feet, long fluffy tail, and
exceptionally sweet temperaments, I find them to be the perfect compliment
to the "little fox" Somalis.
As the Snowcub breed is still in the develepmental stage, I will be having
foundation generation kittens available from time to time. These kittens
may not possess all of the traits we desire as to perfect coloration, extra
toes, head shape, or other points of conformation, but they will be
beautiful, healthy kittens nonetheless, and bred from parents deemed
exceptional enough to be used in the founding of the breed.
The Somali breed has been well established for over thirty years now,
and is accepted in all major cat registries. Nonetheless, the breed is
still considered to be somewhat rare, and obtaining a diverse gene pool
is a challenge for every Somali breeder. In confronting this challenge,
I have concentrated on international pedigrees, and thus my cats may
meow with Australian, British, or even French accents!
